Klein respray

Morning all,
So as a winter project I've got my hands on a slightly scuffed-in-places Klein Pinnacle. Nothing too major wrong with it apart from age, but, considering I am fulfilling a long term desire to own some sort of Klein I would like to get it somewhere towards looking pretty good, and I think that would demand a respray.

I've contacted a company called kleinspainted, who don't really want to touch it as its not a top end model, which I thought was a bit odd (its my money to waste right....). In fact, finding a Klein in a decent size is difficult enough, never mind being choosey about the model!

So, I come to the forum of the great bike restorers, can anyone here recommend a company/person for a respray?

If you want to push the boat out Ali @ FATCREATIONS will do you proud. They have a long wait time as they are so popular but their work is absolutely top notch. Maybe treat yourself

Noted, and I've dropped them an enquiry. There's also a company in Germany I've found I could send it too. I would like at least one of my bikes to look slightly less battle scarred than the rest! Although maybe that's a reflection on the rider...

Sounds like you may have contacted them already, but if not, try Cycleart Berlin. They aren’t a Klein specialist - but they have done some - and they do some amazing stuff.

The other specialist Klein painter (apart from Jonrock - at Kleinspainted) is Etoe.

Just be aware that these are not cheap options. This is probably why people only tend to have Adroits and Attitudes painted. The results are spectacular though.

Good advice, thank you. This is a personal project, and a lot of replies I've had seem to be based on the 'what's it worth' question, which isn't what I'm asking. That's not really why I'm into it, I would like to create something which I'll enjoy riding. I've probably (I know I have) spent more on re-assembling and restoring bikes in the last year than they were worth, but I do enjoy doing it, and most of all, enjoy riding them.

Jaggs - what year is your Pinnacle. Prior to Trek buy-out they were by no means ‘a low end frame’. I know because I saved up and bought one in 1991. The frame tubing, smooth jointing etc was classic high-end Klein. Although single shade paint, they were the same classy primer and ‘hardcote’ enamel finish which graced the Adroit etc. I’m astonished at that attitude and it would encourage me NOT to use them.

At the risk of drifting eversoslightly off-topic, 2manyoranges' comment goes equally for the early-mid-90s Pulse frame; nominally "low-end" but these things are relative, and the '94 frame that I used to own (and bought for £100 in 1999 with XTR seatpost thrown in!) was beautifully put together and fully deserving of an expensive respray.

The top couple of answers pretty much are the choice for quality Klein re-paints.

Would be good to see a pic of it when its done, what colour are you going for?
