Jaggs, I can understand your comment that "it's your money to waste" and it is.
As you mention it's for a pinnacle, it's likely to be a paint job that won't greatly increase the bikes value, but as you point out, that's not why you want one.
Personally I rather value a painter saying yes I can do it but the paint job could cost more than the bike is worth at the beginning, rather than a painter who blows smoke and tells you a repaint will increase its value on every bike they do. It's not unusual for some of us to over invest in a bike
