Kirk Revolution, then and now 7/11/10

I used to have a Kirk. I had the black one with the horrible minty green forks... I bought it from Halfrauds and I was the coolest kid on my street, until we all went off roading and I snapped one of the dropouts :cry:

It certainly was an attention grabber though!

just out of interest, what happened to the clockwork that you stripped for parts ?

sold on im afraid, ive now changed the cables to black shimano ones

I'm amazed how many people have snapped their Revolutions in exactly the same place! I had the black frame/green forked version and my drive side dropout snapped...

One thing I do remember about them - they were bloody heavy for what they were. Think mine weighed about 33lb!

I believe the Kirks were vaunted and even advertised as the first recyclable bikes, but perhaps the common failure of rear drop outs snapping was known about hence the emphasis on recyclable a get out of the crap clause for the manufacturer.

I have heard of them breaking and a pal broke one, can't remember where though.

I always used to wonder if one shaved a sliver of metal off the frame, would it burn bright like the school chemistry experiments with magnesium strips, in which case how well would the whole frame burn.

By the way the mercedes with the mag alloy chassis burned at lemans I reckon this would go the same way if attacked with a welding torch.
