Karma Raleigh Road Ace Frame 59x57.5 ###Cracked###

Raleigh Road Ace frame 531C powder coated in a Molteni with custom decals size 59x57.

I bought this from gumtree a few years ago and had it powder coated straight away without really inspecting it. The crack came through the paint straight away so I assume it was there before I got it. I think it's just the decorative cut out of the lug and not the actual tubing. I googled it and other occurrences of this have happened before.

I marks the extremities of the crack and rode it like this for over 1000 miles, according to Strava, and there was no further proporagtion. I only changed the frame after a bike fit and finding one with a larger headtube that suited me better.

For what it's worth, I'm an aircraft engineer and deal with the assessment and repair of cracks and damage daily and I'd be happy to ride it like this but I'm obviously selling as spare or repair.

I contacted Veron Barker who said a repair would be pretty cheap and a complete headtube and lugs would be £85 if you want to the whole hog.

It also has a very shallow dent on the top tube that I've tried to photograph.

Frame is pick up only in Lincoln, sorry but I've no time to pack up and post.

Thanks for looking, Ben.

Re: Raleigh Road Ace F&F 59x57.5 ###Cracked###

I see you built it up with "modern" gear, has it been re-spaced to 130mm?

Mark.

Re: Raleigh Road Ace F&F 59x57.5 ###Cracked###

I found that the 130mm slipped in without the need for cold setting the rear. My other 'bigger' frame is the same so I believe that these frames are 128mm rear spacing.

Would you mind telling what handlebars are fitted in the photos? Are they 26.0mm clamp diameter? I'm after some 'modern' shaped bars for use with an old quill stem.

Soma highway one.

They are a great shape but I find that the anodizing marks very easily.

Expressing an interest in the frameset should you change your mind re posting it.
