Big shout out to Gill for the decals, thanks so much mate, spot on. The paint job (enameling) was done by Vernon Barker cycles have used them before and they have done a TOP job once again.

Nice work on the purple/orange Clockwork – looking good already. Btw, is that a random hamburg chicken?

Close, but much smaller ;) one of my lemon sablepoots - they are ridiculously tame and quite nosey, always wandering into my garage looking for grubs and spiders

Anyhow - build is coming on but I'm just waiting on my "right" rims which I'm hoping postie will bring soon.. meantime a WIP snap...

Ah, they're lovely little hens! Bet they're quite curious and follow you around a lot.

We've got a welsummer (a fussy old matron) with big fluffy draws, a white leghorn (psycho chicken!), a crested cream legbar (slightly nervous like Beaker) and a small beautiful black bantam braekel cross (the boss). Hours of fun and they love grapes.

Nice to see the Dia-compe SS5 levers and the Porcipaws. Look forward to seeing more pics of the build.

Nice to meet a fellow fowl keeper on here :) I have a small flock of 5 lemons, and a pair of 6+ year old ex-batt warren hybrids - big chunky old ladies who still lay a few times a week. The bantams are "free ranging" I gave up trying to keep them in one place long ago :p

Thanks very much. Keeping hens sometimes feels slightly odd/subversive/radical. Although there's the unofficial allotment thread on RB, I don't mention the hens much, if at all. I live in a diverse urban but leafy edge of North London. Most neighbours aspire to a 'bling' lifestyle, so I'm considered odd because I ride bikes, keep chickens and have an allotment.

We've had the hens about four years now and have gone through a few 'moments' with them, learning to be my own vet. The crested cream legbar is a bit flighty. In the first few weeks we had her she escaped, flying remarkably well. She ended up on a branch half way up a 60ft oak tree between gardens. This was half six on a Sunday morning, bright sharp frosty. A random magpie landed next to her and spooked her but luckily she flew right to our back door.

Overall it's been great fun with the hens and the eggs are fantastic. I've got a couple of weeks off so I'm building new accommodation for them, as well as fettling the bike. I have a hankering for a few marsh daisy hens. Quite often go to smallholder events out of London and the garden shows at the Malverns, etc, so I'll certainly be looking out for the lemons. :)
