Hi,

The bottom jockey wheel on my M950 XTR rear mech is worn and I am eventually switching to 9 speed at the same time. It's currently 10t as it's the original one.

What can I replace it with??

Cheers

Nico

i can recommend BBB's ceramic bush jockeys 11t so good for 9 speed.
nice and smooth and come as upper and lower specific. try the 'bay first.
i will try attach a pic or link later on ;)

Thanks a lot Marc, appreciated.
I never understood why 9-speed uses bigger jockey wheels, if anything they should be narrower, but bigger ?
I am wondering if going bigger is not taking a risk on a mech that was esentially 8-speed, in terms of clearance? Is your XT mech originnaly 8-speed?
I might as well change for the top one too and that's 9t!!! Bizarre...

hi, yeah change them both. like the headlights on your car,,,,change the left then the right dies a week later!
you will be fine running 10 or 11 tooth with 9 speed chain.just keep the diameter similar to what you have now and cleaarnce will/should be ok
the xt was 'mega 9' if i remember rightly :? but was used in a 27 speed set-up with great success.
some 7 and 8 speed jockey wheel were narrow anyway, remember the shimano 'centeron'? you have probably handled a few from mid- nineties LX and suchlike.i would avoid those large sram type and 'rollerboys' to be on the safe side.
let us know how you get on,mon aimee.
