Jimbog’s 94 Serotta Colorado ATX - Onxy purple fade

Picked this up a couple of weeks back as it caught my eye on eBay. Like these old Serotta’s and they are fairly hard to find. I didn’t buy the frame with the forks, as in my eyes they do not suit the age and style of the frame.
For those who don’t know Serotta they were founded in 1972 in Saratoga, New York by Ben Serotta. They made high quality road bike and mountain bike frames in Steel, aluminium and Titanium. The company was sold in the late 80’s and then, later bought back by the Serotta family. In 1994 Serotta bought Fat chance cycles from Chris Chance and began making the various Fat Chance frames including the Yo Eddy at the Saratoga factory.
I’m aiming for period correct parts where possible. Rigid forks, XT m737 groupset with ritchey logic cranks.
Any likes or comments welcome to help spur on the build 😀

Sourced some nice quality, Japanese origin oversized steel forks which came in a dark green paint finish. Have painted them in black to match the frame.

the forks required a JIS 27mm crown race so I sourced a Maddison elite headset which came with two crown race sizes. Very happy with the quality.

Searching for 1 inch threadless stems and this popped up. I know it’s not exotic and period correct, but it’s decent quality, a sensible length/rise and the colour scheme is perfect for the frame.

Popped into brick lane bikes, which is over the road from where I work. Picked up a nice 26.8mm seatpost which I think suits the frame well. Was struggling to find an retro post in the size and in black. Also a nubuck Flite, which seem to be sold out online at the moment.

wet sanded the Ritchey logic cranks this morning and have painted black. Got some gold decals from Gil at retro decals to go on when they are dry tomorrow.

Happy with the painting and decals result on the cranks. Compliment the frame colours well.
