But Clarkson is still a dick right?

Absolutely but more so by his own admission. He regulary scripts things that appeal to peoples sense of humour even though you will often put your head in your hands and so "Clarkson your a cock" but laugh never the less. Never have I seen such an entertainer self deprecate as much as Clarkson.

Some forget it is an entertainment show, not a serious political, sociological or life changing event.

So I still believe the haters against Clarkson will always be the haters of Clarkson no matter what he says.

For me the biggest Irony about Top Gear is that the best one they ever did, was on motorcycles and scooters.

If you thought race was an issue on Clarkson Highlandsflyer which I for one do not think it is on this one matter, I would be interested in your views on Lenny Henry and his opinion that there is not enough minorities within the media and entertainment quoting stereotypes. This is despite Lenny starting out in his career in the black and white minstrel show and having largely built his fame and millions by comedic black stereotypes.

Anyone remember tiswas, ott, Theophilus P. Wildebeeste? In truth he seems now to be saying do as I say and not as I have done which made me very rich.

I still believe that some will always look to be offended and claim racism as part of who they are. Should we be worried it seems to be more white folk doing this than coloured?

Perhaps a discussions for another time and another fora. For now I'll leave my input at that.

Re:

Most of Top Gear is bearable. After all, I love anything with a motor in it. Put a motor in Clarkson and he might even sound more interesting. Right up him.

Clarkson's other work is well researched and very watch-able.

My views on Clarkson are more that of a disappointed parent than anything else. I wouldn't expend one iota of energy hating anyone. Forming a view, from a modicum of vitriol, that I hate someone fails the Rorschach test for reading between the lines. See a counsellor.

The guy is a massive ass, and he would indeed only be considered 'edgy' by those who like their comedy scripted, contrived and woefully predictable. Vanilla indeed, and how one contrives that to be a racist term I really am stumped on.

When he isn't trying to be, er, 'witty', he is actually capable of entertaining. Just doesn't happen often.

For those who point to him as a beacon of light in the dark days of political correctness and the suppression of freedom of speech, I suggest you refer to the manner in which he sought to silence those who might have something less than flattering to say about him.

I don't think Clarkson agrees with his acolytes on freedom of speech.

He just wishes he was able to exercise the freedom he would seek to deny others.

So we can add hypocrite to the list of traits everyone seems to admire in him.

As far as taking my words to Twitter, I have a counter suggestion.

Might I venture those of a fragile disposition, who cannot bear to hear their hero being criticised, cock off to another thread, or perhaps Mumsnet for a group hug?

There will now be a pause while the poster composes an alarmingly arrogant diatribe on how morally inferior and intellectually bankrupt the rest of the population is.

Wrong big boy!

I was out in my shed pummelling an effigy of Clarkson with an axe handle whilst dressed as an Asian/Mexican Lenny Henry impersonator, to the dulcet tones of Barry White. I am now going to take the Lenny Henry bit further by coaxing one of our cattle upstairs where I will make mad passionate love to her and reassure her she truly is a great comedienne and her size really is not an issue.

Honest question here; What are you referring to?

Re: Jeremy 'Bigot' Clarkson

It wasn't broadcast. It wasn't clear. It was in the context of a kids nursery rhyme ffs. KDM said it all for me.

I've been watching Minder recently, not a programme anyone would remember as particularly 'racist' (although the definition has moved somewhat). References aplenty to japs, jocks, eye-ties, pakis, irons, spades and more I can't remember. Classic TV and none the worse for it.

It's absurd that I 'can't' use the word even in the context of a discussion about the use of the word- but I won't purely to keep the peace. Incidentally, the word isn't on the banned list here, so I could if I chose to. But thinking of the children **** and **** are left out. It's all bollocks.

I conclude RB must be a racist.

IIRC he had a super injunction keeping the press quiet about an alleged affair.

Re: Jeremy 'Bigot' Clarkson

I can't wait until Clarkson gets sacked. How long then before reality hits and he features in the new Stannah advert?

"Fitted with a Turbo Boost Plus+ function, the Iron Maiden ascends two floors in roughly the same amount of time it takes Billy Connolly to forget his last line."

Re: Jeremy 'Bigot' Clarkson

I'm sure this thread is full of irony, just not intended irony, i think. **** it, if you disagree you're a ****. But i love you all and want to give you damp cuddles. Anyone for raspberry milkshake?
