I would suggest 'illogical' is the right word, rather than 'wrong'? Something along the lines of 'love is blind'?

Seriously though, although I own a Lava Dome myself and there's no doubt that it is the all-time classic upgradeable bike, the interesting thing about Konas is that they all look the same irrespective of how good they are. My 97 Kilauea is a way better frame to ride than the Lava Dome is, and I'm willing to believe (although I may well never get the chance to know for sure) that the Hei Hei is way better to ride than the Kilauea. But you just wouldn't know it to look at them, that's all.

Mr Zero's stunning Hei Hei is going to take some topping!

Know where there is a frame for sale too, hmmm.......................

my analogy was going to involve the lava dome being the filthy girl down your local who can suck a golf ball through a hose, but yours is much more poetic...

super swin's kona

Super swin:
You should take a different picture of your bike, there's too much sunlight beaming down on it and it looks washed out.

Here is sunchasers kilauea, I expect he'll be along shortly to fill in some detail :)

:D Thanks for that matey!

It's a '98 resprayed early last year & rebuilt with mainly NOS parts XT M737 cranks, f & r mechs, cantis, thumbies etc NOS USE ti post & some bits n bobs I had gathered over the years. I've since got rid of the red z-max tyres (look good but not so good to ride).

Looks like white Konas are in vogue  great minds & that..
