For a cross bike get some Kore cross cantis, easier to set up than Frog legs but with the same wide profile and price :D

987s and M900 are fine for me. Pauls work OK too, just not the levers.

Make sure you use good pads, put studs at end so wide arms, and set straddle cable so its close to tyre and you will be fine.

Good luck and happy shopping :)

Most powerful canti I've used has to be the Brooklyn Machine Works 'Snot Rockets' with Kool Stop pads. And there's no way in hell I'm ever going to be selling my pairs.

Shimano XT or XTR always worked well.

TBH a lot of it is to do with setting up properly and pads....Always found kool stops to be better than teh stock pads.

can't be m900 levers. is modern road STI.

done onZa HO. Cracked all four in one braking manouver. Not going back there.

Looking like Pauls and spaced low with good pads.

Next Q.....what pads?

Can't beat Campy Record OR Canti's for aesthetics and stopping power, plus easy to set up.

With Kool Stop pads set up as Gump advised ;)
