Ok, Cantis sorted...IYO what are THE best canti pads?

Why not use the v pads ? if width is a problem.

There are plenty of dual or triple compounds, I don't know if the curvature of the 700c is sufficiently different from a 26" but I assume it is for them to make road pads.

have a look on the Fibrax site for different styles

http://www.fibrax.com/products.php?mcat=1&cat=8&p=2 (road) or head to the MTB they have more in different fixing styles (depending on what Paul use)

Not tried them different compound, but hey ho give them a go.

No idea how they compare to others though. Shame you cannot get winwood anymore (unless you ride in the wet)

kool stop for ceramic rims.. obs you need ceramic rims too...

winwood poly pads offer the most bite, but they're exceptionally noisy regardless of set up or rim..

My Winwoods are awesome, and silent (just got oodles of toe in) but i'd recomend only using with ceramic rims, I have had them tear huge chunks of alloy out of normal rims, not a prob with coated sidwalls

Is there still a source for these, I've not found anywhere selling them.
The biggest flaw I found was the studs are soft Alu to make them light, so bent hence they are in my box of slightly worn pads.
(this was early 90's, don't know if they improved the stud later on).
