campy record OR, with modern style pads, worked for me on the downhills on a very wet Grand Raid Christalp in 2004

I had LX cantis on mine with Winwood Polypads and they worked really well

Now I have Onza HOs with Aztec pads and can quite happily lock either wheel at any speed on ANY surface
Not grabby but heaps of power and modulation

Is you're lack of power coming from frame/fork flex? are you running carbon forks, it took me ages to work out how to set up a non squealing and working brake on them

Wide frogleg old style canti's are the best. I set one of my mtb's with them, they were as powerful as Vees, just a bit of a pain to set up.
Suntour self energising canti's are meant to be good for the rear brake as they're designed to bring a tandem to a halt

Low profile canti's are a compromise, get some wide oldschool type ;)

M900, though mated to the "SLR+" M900 levers...

Set them wide near the tip of the brake stud, not close near the pad, keep the straddle so it at ~90 near rim contact (move around so you get the feel to power you like).

Always found quality pads and the rim itself just as important as rim choice though.

Could stop rapidly and controlled from 50mph down a tarmac hill road.... plenty of modulation, be that reduced power or feathering, so you don't lock though (luckily as they could lock).... I know as this was my 6th form project, which had the conclusion that things get hot
