Fair enough but surely the same principle applies, assuming the postage cost is known before payment for the item.

I don't mind paying 50p to 90p extra on the postage/packing charge but when you pay £3.95p for an item to be
delivered by RM 1st class recorded and it arrives 2nd class normal post at a cost of £1.45p! Then this piss's me off.

Although eBay charge commission on postage now.
A lot of companies I deal with charge a set fee of something like £12-20 plus VAT.
Aluminium Warehouse for example charge £15 plus VAT and it takes around two weeks to arrive. Crazy.
