IT'S ALL GONE BONKERS.....

I broke a chain last week and was very pleased to get a replacement and a new cluster that worked with the rear mech.

Does anybody in the trade know when Shimano stuff is likely to hit our shores? I’d like some road bike stuff but it is out of stock.

I heard some suppliers are recieving dribs and drabs of the low end shimano, stuff like tourney, they seem quite pleased to be getting them through but still no cassettes or freewheels which is what our customers require, Our core stock has always been sunrace which used to go under the radar but of recent I have struggled to find stock of their freewheels, cassettes, chains and cranksets.... whats even better is that the goverment 'heres £50 to fix you bike' scheme has just gone into overdrive and we just dont have the New parts to repair some of these bikes.... frustrating. Now a little bird tells me Impac who supply us with tyres and tubes will not be supplying our wholesalers next year as they are concentrating on supplying new bicycle companies....... get em while you can I'm told 😣

Depends what it is really.
Madison the UK distributor appears to be getting new stuff arriving each month based on availability dates on the B2B site.
Looks like regular stock arriving at about one month intervals.
I could be more specific depending on what you are looking for but the dates aren't always that reliable as it's usually 'expected' rather than the usual 'confirmed' dates.
But for example I was looking at some road cassettes and they were due in July and Sept/Oct respectively.
Trying to put together complete groupsets is nigh on impossible at present.
PM me if you want details on something more specific.

I've been told that OEM XT for MY22 bikes won't be available until at least January 2022. That's one specific bike brand.
Aftermarket stuff will just be coming in dribs and drabs, so if you can see yourself needing specific stuff in the future:
-Get some orders in with your lbs.
-Be prepared to wait all year
-Be prepared for a lack of a firm ETA
-Be prepared for any ETAs that might be given, to be pushed back and not be notified by your shop.

The distributors don't tell the shops when the dates change. It's usually when the customer rings to chase their bits (that are due that week), it's discovered that dates have moved and the customer will now be told they'll have to wait a further month or so.

If you're after a high end new MTB, plenty of shops have stock (of a certain brand), so just contact your lbs. If you can't get thru on the phone, drop them an email and you should get a response within a few days. It's been a hell of a year for those in the trade and the staff in most (lucky) shops and distributors will be pretty burnt out.

Heck, I feel like I'm starting to rant and get defensive. I'd best stop. I'm not even being harassed.

Peas. X

...with the Grom eating through tyres due to extreme driftiness at the pump track I thought - ho hum, better get some new jump rubber. Some Table Tops perhaps - Nope. Discontinued. OK, Specialized. Looked at many many sites. None. Ok. Billy Bonkers, should be loads of those around. Many, many, very many sites. None. A pair on Pinkbike for 30:00 ... saw them five minutes after they went up BUY!!! Two on eBay for 40:00 ... BUY!!

It really has gone bonkers.

Well, the stuck ship isn't going to help much.

EDIT: just seen its free now 🚢🚵‍♂️🍺
