It's a bike, I know that much.....

The areo tubes are hard to photograph as they are quite subtle. The 501 frames were actually quite a pleasant ride compared to the 18/23 tubed frames which were awful.

Did a Sprint upset you matt?

*the Pulsar was 18/23 tubed whereas the Sprints were always 501 so you cant really compare the two. Those two lighter thinner tubes made a helluva difference. Certainly an 'upgrade' from the ubiquitous Raleigh Winner or those bloody Equipes!

My first sprint was rather tasty at the time, no decals, gold Regina straight through block, gold chain and Mavic TT bars. I might just have to go and do that again.

If it were a car, it would be a mk3 escort XR3, not the XR3i and certainly not an RS1600i but still lightweight and a hoot to drive near the limits.

had a bit of a dig, it was the quasar i had (the shop made a big deal of the 501 tubing) and no, none of them upset me, it was just not very good.

I managed to give mine away. Replaced it with a peugeot 501 (better). Followed by a vitus 787 (worse, then it snapped) Then a 653 dave marsh (brilliant but too big.) Then mountain bikes. Mostly lighter than the raleigh.....

Wot? That aerospace contour sticker - black and gold with red writing - was only ever put on record sprints. All Aerospace Contour bikes have tubes that are round at the ends and oval in the middle.
doesn't that frame have round tubes tho, looks like it from the pictures so far.

They were still shit.

Wrong on both counts. Maybe bikes aren't for you, try videogames.

Thank you. The pedals and bar tape do need some attention. The bike is pictured in as-bought condition. Just took a damp rag to it before taking some snap shots. I've only ridden it for a few miles, to find out the headset is severely indexed and it needs a full overhaul, so I can't comment on its ride quality yet. It does look the part, though.

Vanished toe clips, torn saddle, not the best handlebar tape I've ever seen. But the stickers are in good nick.

As self declared model expert I rate your RRS 9.8 out of 10.
