It’s getting HOT in here ….

This is scheme I’m also very drawn to.

Matched with some Z2 lower in the same colour.

I remember when this red Hot came for sale on Facebook a few years back. I couldn’t afford it at the time but omg I wanted it badly. It’s a gorgeous cour scheme and one I’ve thought about recreating when I get one.

But tbh I now kinda agree that a Hot should either be in Stars and Bars or with a Rasta Flame design!

The rarity of the frame means it should have the ultimate custom paint

Here we go, this is what I'd go with. The paint scheme did exist but unsurprisingly, this is the only picture I've ever seen.

I'm confident it isn't a Hot. The tubing is too big, it's more likely a specially painted Kula given the seat-tube decal. Could it be a Ku? But that's not the point. Check out the livery! I've never seen anything like it on Kona. (I've translated the text and it doesn't reveal what the frame could be).

Judy yellow (maybe with a metallic flake), orange fade, zig-zag pattern/edging, deep blue with a purple hint front-end. It has the 1995 spiral headtube decal, no top tube decal.

I'd go with 1996 grey decals as the 1997 jungle decals would clash.

The one in the 98 catalogue is purple with green flames, very nice, also a Ku here in purple yellow flames

How would one be able to get a good match on that purple with yellow flame KU, quite fancy that for a project I am currently working on.

I'm still tossing and turning on what colour this should go. I'm also close to wanting to start the project so need to decide and get it dropped off at the painters in Jan.


Another suggestion which i quite like , was to go bright orange (with blue decals maybe) like the 98 Kula colour.


The more i look at the current colour which it was painted in 98 , I also wouldn't be opposed to having the same colour again, but with 96 decals added. Would seem a fitting tribute.

I like both of those ideas too. Part of me feels it should be a nice bright (Hot) colour but I also like the idea of the same colour with 96 decals!
