It’s getting HOT in here ….

From looking through the '96 catalogue I think the yellow and orange bikes look the best. All bikes have the pale blue decals and orange is the complementary colour to blue too.

I know its a Hot so catalogue spec is irrelevant but I'd want to have it looking a bit like a catalogue bike. For me Judy's and Maguras would be cool.

I’m swaying more towards bright colours and something a bit unique or at least including flames 🔥

I’ve so many builds with Judys that illl likely go another route on this one. And don’t get me started on how much I hate Maguras 😂

Does anyone have any good quality pics of the yellow and green flame paint ?

Different colours, but there are lot's of good images in @al-onestare Hot thread, and that has the '96 decals so might be more appropriate for your frame.

I have two frames (a Ku and Hot) that need painting (one is paint-less and the other a really awful powder coat) and I would also really like to get the iconic flame paint jobs on them both. The problem is that any later recreations of flames that I have seen have always just not looked quite right, and that would always niggle me (not to mention the cost involved for something I would not be happy with!). The same would be true of 'stars n bars', it would be so difficult to get right, and if it is not it becomes obvious that it is effectively a reproduction. If you get a flame paint job and it does end up looking right, I would be very interested in knowing who painted it!

Great thing about it being a Hot though is that it was originally custom paint, so you can do whatever you like (go as simple or wild) and it would still keep the "spirit" of the original.

I do like some of the modern team bikes that they painted up in flames/stars a few years ago, kind of a modern homage to the iconic old designs. Maybe that is another idea, where it can be retro inspired but doesn't need to be quite as accurate.

Those Process paint jobs were incredible. The attention to detail was top-notch. I wonder where the frames live now?

Yes exactly my thinking. I’d rather have a totally different paint job than one that’s not accurate to what it’s trying to be.

100% agree. Rather than try and re-create a classic look that will indefinitely not look quite as good as the original, going in a different direction with something unique is more true to the nature of the Hot.

This is the thread to read of course ;)

Yes mate I’ve read almost every hot thread around now

How about painting my frame half and half. One side yellow and one green. With contrast decals of the opposing colour ?

Could also match the Z2 lowers too
