What about H Lloyd? I've not used them but I recall they worked with someone on here for some M-Trax decals and they do water slide.

Do they do their own decals ? I can email them for a quote.

The guy who does the airbrush would airbrush the large logos and then water slide the small ones.


Has anyone had an airbrush paint job before ? His work looks great from what I’ve seen.



I was thinking about this conundrum whilst out riding today. Am I going to be disappointed when it’s not exactly how an original one was.

Am I safer going for a nice single colour and do a semi classy build.

@sinnerman has done some incredible build threads on here and resurrected many classic frames. He would be worth messaging to ask who he uses for spray and decal work.

The Klein and Fat Chance guys seem to have restorations pretty much dialed these days as well. Although, the money they command balances the resto costs. Not sure Kona's are there yet!

Yeh I’ve had a couple of quotes from various places who do great work on Klein. However price wise it’s above what I’d spend.

Yeh I’ve no issue with the price. I’m now worried on just how accurate it will be and if I’d be safer going for a nice flamboyant met red or green.

If I were in your shoes (and thankfully I'm not) and was building the Hot as a hang on the wall / show bike I would go flam red, I once had a Hobbs of Barbican in that colour and it was lovely. The downside was that the paint chipped easily.

If it was to be a rider then I'd choose a powder coat rather than paint, but still a bright sparkly colour

Expensive but in the grand scheme of things, not that bad. Considering how the world has changed in the last decade, I paid Bob Jackson £200 back in 2015 to respray my '96 VooDoo Bizango. Single colour pearlescent white and apply the waterslide decals (that I supplied). I had a quote from Argos at the time but they were more expensive than Bob J.
