Is this a GT LTS-3

Re:

Actually I lied to save embarrassment :(

It is busted and the effect is the same as it being corroded through on the back .

There is a hole in the rear caliper body, due taking off a fraction of a mm too much metal with a milling machine. I measured up with micrometer, and knew I could remove 2.5mm metall from rear with milling machine.

Took off less than that, then cleaned up with belt sander,.... Had not noticed cross drilling, which I then exposed from the rear.

Also the mini circlip groove in the piston is damaged so the pot return system does not work, and the arm has been bored out to take custom 17mm axle

After looking at a few videos on youtube about using a new elastomer from a '3' on a '5' it makes me wonder what type of unit I have on mine.

the suspension unit on mine is the sort with a plastic top cap with the aluminium screw on cap. In the youtube videos the guy is calling it a LTS-5 unit

I bought one of these:

and quite frankly, it is a waste of time..but maybe that is how the bike is..old tech suspension. It does not really give more than a few mm of movement. the bike settles on to it and compresses the elastomer a bit, but no movement to talk of, just a mushy back end.

My suspension unit is like in this video:
