I know you can get some stuff specifically made for things like that, is it worth investing in?Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI)
1. Paint on a strong dye liquid (usually deep red).
2. Leave the dye to penetrate any cracks that may be present.
3. Wipe off the dye as thoroughly as possible using paper towels and solvent.
4, Spray white paint over the location.
5. If a crack is present the dye will bleed out of the crack and into the white paint.
This is one of a few methods used in the nuclear, defence and aerospace industries to detect cracks on safety critical parts.
