Is it just me, or is Deore DX cool?

Most of the DX stuff BITD was the same as XT, just not quite as well finished and so cheaper. Just meant you didn't have to treat it with the same degree of respect

Surely "treat it mean, keep it keen" is cooler than "it's got gold bits on it – look!"

If DX was second only to XT before XTR came out, does that make XT the new DX :?

(Now I've confused myself so I'm going to sit in a quiet corner)

No DX is not cool. It wasnt cool then and isnt now.
Yes it was as everyone says the workhorse that outlasted everything and worked even when you beat the shit out of it (insert reliable Hooker joke here).
But no uncool.
