Only you can decide. :)
It's one of those things I'd do, decide it's fine, then look at the bike a couple of days later and be all 'No, looks shit, got to change it!'
I think I might be in this camp! It'd be ruinous to fudge about with a nice set (of cables), only to think I've been a twot. I might have to get some fluoro gear cables?!

Only if your bike is for example neon yellow - black. Then you can mix those colours.
It's a Merlin - a whole lotta black and 'silver' - so it'd likely stick out like a pair of tats on a cat.

It's decided - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! For this bike anyway, but I Iike the idea as a possible thing to do with a coloured bike

Right now I'm in the process of putting together a rat bike, for when I need to ride into town or to the local shops and will need to leave it unattended. Something that's reliable and fun to ride, but will look as unappealing as possible to thieves. Mismatched cables is on the list along with mismatched tyres, grips, tatty saddle, comedy rear mudguard and scruffy rattle can paintwork.

Mixed cables can look good if done well, but they look awful if done badly, which is how I'll be doing it. I remember seeing a picture of a Klein Attitude dolomite that did it right, with pink and green cables to match the colourway.
