Hej alla,

I fitted a rear mech to my Bianchi MTB tonight. All adjustment were made high and low gear setting and B screw setting to get the jockey wheel closer to the cassette.

Here is my problem I can shift fine up and down in the first four gears, I can get it into fifth but it is a struggle to push the shifter that far to click. Can't change into sixth or seventh just seems the shifter doesn't go that far.

I have the following parts rapid fire shimano shifters, shimano 7 speed chain, shimano 7 speed cassette and a shimano STX RS rear mech.

Could anyone suggest what the problem could be and how I would go about fixing it.

Thanks Jamie

sounds like you top adjuster screw is still to tight, remove the cable and push the mech up and let it down while turning the pedals and see if it will move to all the sprockets.

Got it working on five gears

Try what you said it shifted into all gears no problem, I reattached the cable and will now change into fifth gear but still refuses to change into the top two sprockets.

Any ideas what that could be?

Jockey wheels

Just check that are no hitting the sprockets anywhere....

I just don't understand what it could be, it just seems like the shifter is made for 5 speed at the moment.

I would take the cover off the shifter and check there is no muck or grit inside it,does it have the right amount of positions when the cable is not connected :?

Shifters

I have taken the shifter off, remove the cable completely, taken the covers off, shifter will only shift into 5 clicks, it won't shift into the sixth or seventh.

Anyway to fix this?
