Purple seems to have phases, jimo is right, there was huge demand when hope released their new range of purple parts. Ano parts seem to be coming back, for a no. of years there was a lack of it on modern mountain bikes.
Which would be very nice of them normally but i asked Rampage to custom a set of X2 brakes in purple so they would be unique.
A year later Hope do the same and theirs are a much nicer shade . What a shame they showcased them on that hideous clockwork
Ok, thanks for the anwsers!
Reason I ask is I have a 1993 Specialized Hardrock Sport http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=317240
That I got a NOS sidestand for that has some Purple, Then I buoght a set of cantilever brakakes in purple, then I now need new wheels for it (front is a old shoot one, rear rim is worn), and did find a set of purple hubs for it I got a bit tempted but then did wounder what time line they where in, is it proper to change to a 1993 bike?
I also did find these aside the brake levels...
A local bike store owner had a straight stay 1990 Merlin Titanium with every imaginable anodized purple part on it. After seeing his bike the Merlin became my most sought after bike.
I was lucky enough to buy a 92 Merlin which I outfitted with my own purple bits...
