If the US ever goes to a VAT I'm leaving. It ludicrous. So what do the Euro countries do with all that value added tax they collect? Do they give you better service? Give it to the local industries that are hurt by someone buying from another country? Give it to the royal monarchy so they can party it away. Does charging VAT in Euro countries reduce other taxes being increased?

affordable education and healthcare.

We have affordable healthcare and education in the US...stupid people just make excuses and spend their money on cars and insurance they can't afford, closets full of cloths, higher lifestyle choices that they can't afford so that they can't pay their tuition and healthcare costs. In general they just lack good old common sense.

You're entitled to that opinion, though it's a cliche and broad generalization. Healthcare was once affordable for most in this country, along with education, but has not been for some time. If you want me to get statistics on the rise in healthcare and higher education costs in our country over the past thirty years, this will be evident. The rates have far exceeded normal inflation, while salaries have not, thereby my statement on what is affordable for the average american. let's not talk about the ever increasing gap between the haves and have nots, the wealthy and poor.

I digress as I now have strayed way off topic (not that I don't do that from time to time).
