I'm still here..... and a retro tour writeup!

Trip was done in early September. I postponed it by 3 days cos heavy rain was forecast and I got lovely sun! Rode in shorts and short sleeves the whole way. :)

awesome rob, so inspirational!!!! really want to do this soon, one of the gaffa's at work keeps bugging to do it with him but life keeps throwing hurdles up!!! nearly jumped them all though ;)

cheers :)

Re:

Sometimes the forecasters get it right and sometimes they get it wrong but it works in your favour as it did for you.
Today they said it would be cold but it wouldn't rain. It was cold and it rained throughout both my outward and inward commutes which made them both miserable. Oh yes, I forgot to mention how lush your Kilauea looks  Well done :D How's the Achilles/knee?

My father in law did this last September with his brother, but they did it over to 3 days, they said the route was good and enjoyed it I think. This year we did the way of the roses as a group which is a bit longer (we clocked about 180) and we did it over 3 days. I did it on my muddyfox prestige comp. I used panniers as I took a lot more stuff than you. I did a write up somewhere on here and its a good route if the bug has bitten. We are talking about doing the trans Pennine way next year, probably over 3 or maybe 4 days.

Great writeup! Hope you enjoyed yourself. You even stopped at one of my all time favourite cafes! You cant beat Hartside summit café :D .

Re:

Great report Rob :)
Looks like a nice ride and the Kili looks great too.
Did you do it on your own?
