If you started from scratch again...

So if I find a couple of dodgy characters in the garage one night, calling each other Gary, trying to nick my bikes. Then Chris @Imlach and Dave @novocaine, with Bob @Guinessisgoodforyou outside in the getaway van are prime suspects? 🤔
@slackboy Matt, the only Titec risers I have are some Hellbent XCs which I thought I'd seen on one of your bikes at one point? They're not on a bike at the moment, so I'd probably sell them if they're any good to you? They've not got that much rise though to be honest, maybe 15-20mm.
I am hurt I wasn't mentioned, I would love to steal your bikes.

It's all interesting reading everyone's thoughts here. From my own perspective I had a few bikes left over (road and mtb) from when I gave up racing them in 2003 and they all sat in an unused and sorry state for many years as I just had no interest in cycling anymore. It was only at the start of 2020 that I restored my Xizang and then went on to the others which necessitated collecting replacement parts. The 'new bikes' I've collected since are because they resonate with me in some way from when I was very heavily into the scene in the late 80's and 90's, so there is a connection rather than just randomly collecting whatever.

I don't intend to gather anymore now, but equally I don't plan on selling anything. It leads me to wonder though what will become of all this equipment when I snuff it in years to come (hopefully still a good few away!). Will there still be a retro scene, will they be scrapped, will anyone care, should I dig a big hole and bury them?

Can't really say that I have done everything correct from the start collecting retro MTBs but still I wouldn't change much either.

My approach was / is to keep up to 5 good MTBs at any one point and ride these as much as I can.

I am collecting and building early 90s MTBs almost 2 years now and I have gotten obsessed with many brands but you really get to know what works best for you and then ride these steeds most of the time.

All this to say that I reached the limit of what I can own.

I have prioritised appreciating these bikes more and keeping them in good working order.

New let's see if next year this time I am regretting writing down these lines...(will report back!) 🫣

88 Pace rc100
94 Pace rc200cf3
92 kona explosif
Roberts dogsbolx
92 dynatech quantum or decade or both.... haha

And only one box of spares

This list would probably turn back into what's in the workshop now hahahahaha
