If LGF says it is...............Zaskar built P9

Re: If LGF says it is...............

Right.

First of al, dont polish it with Autosol. All you'll be doing is stripping the ball burneshed layer off. That layer is a thin covering of harder aluminium that prevents the frame from corroding over bare aluminium or the bubbling of annodised/ laquered frames.

Buff it with a dry cotton material, wrap it around the tubes and pull quickly from side to side. You'll be amazed at the results.

Secondly, why build so quickly? Gather the parts required, then build so you can give an informed opinion as to how good/ bad it is with it properly built with good quality components. Theres nothing worse than a rush build with knackered mechs or buggered bearings etc etc.

Hang it up and come back to it when you are ready.

Re:

I have good quality components here, just no suitable sus forks. Easily remedied/swapped if I find some so will build it with that in mind. Rigid with disc front. New headset. Nice mech etc. New pads seat

Re: If LGF says it is...............

You could always go with a set of Magura Quake Forks. I have them fitted to 2 GT's including a Pantera.

Re: If LGF says it is...............

these cost me about $250 US each to build including the original fork, nos uncut steerers from hippie tech, ti bolts, new bushings, new kronos springs, nos alum dampers, decals and paint..both stanchions where unmarked.

I think it was reasonable..you could go modern but what is the fun in that..

I know, i know.......

Looking out for something with air in it. With 165mm headt tube, plus stack (allowing 30mm) plus stem I'm up to 215/220 I reckon. That's the limiting factor.

As I say, will be rigid until something comes along sub £100.

Re:

Some bikes want to be given love. Everything came apart in an hour. No stress. BB rattles. Everything else seems ok. Had a little polish then popped out for mop and more autosol. Too far gone for anything else.

Tried the less severe method but left marking a bit like diacompe levers go. Needed a bit of abrasion I'm afraid. Will use the mop in the morning.

Re: If LGF says it is...............
