If LGF says it is...............Zaskar built P9

Re:

I'm sure someone here will take them off your hands mate, and get them working

Re: If LGF says it is...............

As above. Elastomers alone are £40

If anybody wants these for spares or repair? I can bring to mayhem for a tenner.

Re:

i have a weird obsession with 95-96 judy's. a FULL rebuild would be at most:

-new alum damper: $35 NOS on ebay
-new kronos springs: $30 NOS on ebay
-new upper and lower bushings: $20 if you can find them..need special tool to install. older LBS should have.
-ti bolt kit...assemble off ebay from china sellers.about $20
-new decals..$12..get the silk screened ones on ebay.
-new paint..
-judy butter..

-check stanchions for wear...replace one or both if anodizing is rubbed of due to improper maintenance.
So depending on how much of above is needed, you decide whether it is a rebuild or parts fork! Most of my judys are made of multiple forks!

And that's my point. Thanks for the info. I found suppliers and prices for most bits on an old thread on here. Don't forget the postage to UK on top. Not economic.

Not economic.

Yup, that pretty much describes retro bikes right there.

Not really though. This doesn't just apply to retro items or retro bike parts does it? With a lot of modern equipment and parts I can buy similar fully working for less than the cost of repair. Retro doesn't come into the equation.

Unless you're a Judy sniffer that has a very 'special' relationship with certain forks and their long slender legs.

Re: If LGF says it is...............

No, it doesn't just apply to retro items, but in this case you are saying it is not economic to repair and refurbish a retro pair of forks that are on a retro bike, but it is never going to make economic sense to do that; I mean, spend money on a old bike when you can go to Halfords and buy a brand new Boardman?

We repair and refurbish retro bikes and retro components because we like the way they look and ride or because we are enjoying the machines we could not afford when they were new. We certainly don't do it because it makes economic sense.
