Identifying a late 70s 5 speed.

Hi. Have been trying to remember the make of my mates 5 speed racer from the seventies. I haven't got much to go on other than it had a simplex derailleur and it was metallic brown. Falcon seems to have stuck in my mind but could have Claude Butler or Dawes. Contrary to the talk nowadays we thought his simplex derailleur was better than the Huret on my Raleigh as it was always mine that ended up jammed in the rear wheel.

No, definitely wasn't a Carlton . Had another mate with one of those.

I think it may have been a falcon scirocco if they were made in the mid to late 70's and could bought in metallic brown?

I had a Puch Pacemaker, definitely had a Simplex mech, mine was red, not sure if they did any other colours.

No sorry definitely not a puch. Am quite sure it was a falcon scirocco although the ones I have seen on the net seem to be fairly well specced whereas this bike still seemed quite a basic Cottered crank, steel rimmed 5 speed but with slightly better quality components than were fitted to my own raleigh.
