I made a cap for my thumbies!

That's basically how the world operates. 🤣

Well mine basically does...

Its great..... how'd you make it?
Well, a chunk of leftover Aluminium stock, a caliper to take some measurements, a lathe for removing some unnecessary metal, finally some harsh german wording and another aluminium chunk.
That, or you convince the wife to lend her Thermomix to you for a minute.

Well, thats an option, too. ;)

Maybe I should add: The bike, I am currently building is one of those stupid projects, where I set myself some goal to make the job harder but more interesting. In this case: Make as many parts as possible for the bike by myself. Currently I made the hubs, one fast release for the seat post, a set of brakes and some other bits and bobs. Like this cap. I plan on making the brake levers next. Or a seat post.

Great stuff Thias. There is a long bike build thread by a chap called WDPro on this site which is well worth a read - he did something similar and had really good machining skills.

That's interesting. Do you maybe have his actual username or some more hint on how to find that thread? Using "WDPro" in the search doesn't get me anywhere...

how do they not come off, I have a set of 7 speed Deore ones , one cap is loose and it looks like the four little pins are broken off.

That sounds very interesting, especially the hubs. Have you got or are you going to start a thread?
