Disk wheels look cool but if there is any side winds it feels like rear steering. It has a Brooks saddle right now but that might change.

One thing that has always put me off this is, unless it's purely a wall hanger, the lacquer starts to peel in places and then looks crap

Exactly, paint can't stick since chrome is to smooth to have a mechanical bond and will eventually come off.

A front disk definitely but you’d be surprised how stable a rear disc wheel is as many TT peeps in UK use rear discs without any issues accept punctures s& UK weather is renowned for being unpredictable.

I went on a 30 mile ride yesterday. Ìt was very stable and handled well. It seems to handle better the faster you go. I'm very happy with it.
