Dave Yates Vulcan prototype, live the dream.

Studying the photo i may already have most of the parts 😳😁 From what i can see because it's running the XT 6 speed cassette so 18 speed it narrows things down a bit. Rear mech should be a Deore XT M730, front mech looks like a MT60 Deore, same for the chainset. Pedals look to be either Deore or Deore XT comps. I'd need to see the cantilevers in a better photo but they look like exage mountain, yuk lol. The levers look like Deore XT M730 four finger or could be MT60 Deore with the black option for the levers. Can't really see the thumbshifters but gonna guess they will be M730 Deore XT or Deore MT60.
The wheels front and back look like they are nutted and not quick release and could be Deore XT or Deore can't really say. The rims going off the other photo look like Mavic Oxygens and the tyres look like they're Specialized.

I have a vague recollection it was a posting on Facebook, as to which group, I have no idea.
It definitely wasn't a For Sale post, just an image thrown into a conversation, it may have been a conversation about E-stays, I don't recall it being specifically about the Vulcan (or I would have saved the conversation), not much help I'm afraid.

Love the careful studying of one single photo, exactly what we use to do with the mountain bike magazines & brochures back in the 80s/90s

that frame you have looks really nice, paint is cool, fat creations would be a good option but Ali is expensive, i think justifiably but better value might be Blue Whippet Paintworks, aka Jason Rourke, they did my F.moser, my Kila-Honzo, and 3 Kona's for my buddy dave.

Don't think there was a black BL option in the MT60 range , there is black Deore DX, however they were Rapid Fire Style by that point.
Certainly looks like 730 RD and an MT60 FD.
Aye Deore is normally silver levers, the manufacturer who seemed get shimano parts in black around 88/89 seemed to be Saracen, weirdly the brake levers on my 88 Killi Flyer which i'm nicking the forks off came with black lever blades and that was all Deore MT60. Also the cantilevers were black and the Biopace chainrings, which reminds me i still have those parts,i just haven't a clue where i put them 🤣

I'll check them out and see what they're like the main thing will be for whoever gets to do it,is can they replicate the prototypes colour scheme perfctly. Pricewise with it being three colours to do i'm expecting it to be rather expensive anyways,so if they do a fantastic job painting it i'll not be that bothered about how much it cost.
My dream person to spray it would obviously be the man himself Dave Yates that would be so cool but i can't see that happening sadly because from bits i've heard i think he's retired completely.
