does anyone know if Hydraulic Rim Brakes are any good?

Better than Vs and as strong (if not stronger) than disc brakes unless

a) your rim has a ding in it
b) it's wet

But that's the curse of any rim brake.

If Magura is your choice it's fit and forget (except fitting can be a bit fiddly)

In a nutshell (and just in case you can't be arsed to search) :

They are more than good, they stop so hard they will scare you.
They piss over cantis, U brakes and V's.
They look boring but who cares, stopping a bike is 'sensible' stuff

Is it posible to use the HS33s on a frame designed for U brakes ? anyone know ?

yes. you may have to file the hole bigger. Just turn them up side down

Cheers fella, understand re : filing hole bigger to fit over studs, not sure about the upside down bit though.. what about the brace , will this fit, or will this need to be jiggled with
