We can but would we not also by association include clothing - if you believe running around starkers is honest. I mean, it is....just not a practical choice for Tesco Extra.

My dog rolls in fox poo to change his scent. If I'm lucky he'll throw himself on dead fish or seaweed. Aren't we doing the same thing with perfume, but on an industrialised scale which provides a huge range of subtleties? Isn't seperation of ourselves from the animal smells we make a collosal milestone in civilisation?
