I'm thinking these are XT M-732, does anyone concur? They have the open/close grease ports on but no identifying marks or labels

Yes.
Seals with the orange bit are XT.
Round end nut (bit that clamps against the fork) enabling the largest contact pad are XT and the use two of the same 13mm skinny cone spanners to service.

DX had normal shields and standard end nuts

XTR are a touch different.

Should add it's actually M730 not 732.
EDIT: I think it should say on the shield as well.

Thanks Fluffy. These (laced to proper old school MA40 MB's) came on a bike I bought several months ago and this is the first time I've had a proper look!

Greetings;
Appears to be M-730, however I don't believe there was much difference. I have been riding on those hubs for over 20 yrs. and three rim replacements. Overhaul them yearly and once in awhile shoot some grease into them and they will last forever or at least till 21 December when the end of the world is scheduled!!!! Happy riding.
Regards

No difference, because they never made M732's for the front hub. M737 was the next model after.

Theyre pretty damn smooth now, probably more so than most modern low-mid range hubs are when they leave the factory! Think these wheels are keepers although that means I need a suitable bike to put them on, which I can't even consider with all the unfinished projects I have on the go ATM!
