How do I overhaul a Hugi compact rear hub ?

I have a Hugi compact rear hub that is very noisy, which I would like to overhaul.
The problem is that I can't get the freehub body off the hub. According to all the manuals I have read it should be possible to just pull it off by hand, but I am not able to do this. Not with the cassette mounted either.
So: How do I get the freehub free of the hub shell ?

last time i did this to mine, put the wheel in a vice and pull (quite hard) and they should pop off. but perhaps check your model is ok for this.

I guess I need a bigger cassette to get good traction behind it...
Will try that. If that doesn't work, any suggestions for use of tools are very welcome.
