How Come??????????

Guys how come the cut off for retro bikes and chat is 1997? Should it not go up a year every year, as a 1998 bike is older today than a 1997 bike was 5 years ago or when ever this site was opened.
Should it not be like classic car tax which moves a year on every year?

You should know better than to start this 'ole chestnut again.

And 'classic' car tax remains rooted in 1971 btw.

Only asking ;)
So what happens in 50 years time when there aint any bikes this old around to put on here.
Would a 2001 bike still be classed as modern on here in 50 years time?

The new retro will be post-retro. And after that will be neo-post-retro.

Before retro is classic.

Before classic is antique.

Have you been to the road section lately? the are 50+ year old bikes a plenty.

And in 2051, a 2001 bike will still be seen as 'modern' just in the same way a Ford Sierra is trampled on to get to the MK1 Cortina...

This little nugget again, it's like I never left. Glad to see nothing has changed.

Have you considered how much work it will be for John if he has to swap and move posts yearly? Espescially if the traffic keeps increasing.

The date is left to save all of the hard work involved with finding and moving threads. You'll have to go through chat, bikes, fs and eBay for posts.

I think it should be left as it is if it works which it does.
