Mid september we had another great swap met. There were some cool bikes
to be had. Two off road toad horny toads were up for grabs. There was a REK TEK
titanium and a Dean titanium plus fillet brazed ritchey's were highlights. There were
a couple of Brodies as well. one with a gatorblade.

I was fortunate to pick up one of the horny toads. Both these horny toads came
out of the personal collection of Rod Kirkham (founder of the Toad brand)
This yellow one is the first horny toad made. I haven't formulated any build plans
for it just yet. I have way too many projects to get thru first but i thought i'd start
a thread with some before pictures.

What are thoughts on keeping the front fork and bits?

Well, for starts it needs some Cooks to match that sticker!

And yeah, get rid of the forks I reckon.

Amazing score tho!

From what I saw online, that swap of yours had some gems!

I might keep the fork on it as a tribute to Rod. That is how this bike has always looked.
Once the fork issue is sorted then can concentrate on the rest of the build. It would be
nice to have some cook's stuff on it since it has the decal. But right now i am fresh out.

All suggestions are welcome.

If there are any swap meet pictures online, vintage canadian mountian bike facebook page etc.
please feel free to add them here.

Definitely was a great swap meet with perfect weather, glad I got there early, I really made some good scores but did not take photos unfortunately.

Love this Toad, good point with a reason to possibly keep the fork. Not really my preference though. Would be great to swap the seatpost or the stem, which ever so they are matching in colour.

Yep, Cooks would look perfect but nothing wrong with the current setup
