Consider if you will what Hope actually do for the £40.
Caliper- New seals and new pistons and new pads.
Given the caliper only has seals/pistons/pads in a cnc shell then youve replaced everything so its about as good a s new(The pistons are plastic,forget wear to the bore of the caliper,it just aint going to happen
)
Lever assembly- New seals,new piston,new diaphragm plus all fittings bolts and circlips .Basically all the internals replaced in a cnc shell so its about as good as new(also as above the inside is alloy and the piston has a rubber seal that moves along it,aint going to wear
)
Then of course the professionally bleed the system with new fluid ,I think if you added up all the components in the lever and caliper then added the retail costs of fluid and pads(what are hope resin pads retail ? £15 abouts. this leaves £25 per brake for Hope to replace EVERYTHING Plus strip clean(blast through with dry air) reassemble and bleed.
Roughly worked out using lbs prices for labour and parts. it appears they do thses services for pennies,in fact its closer to them paying you to service your brakes
Im about to send a pair of monos to them .This week ill send one and in 2 weeks or so ill send the other. . Eighty quid is eighty quid but spreading it out helps :?
PS Also please note you will be doing all the work yourself
that will take loads of time,i mean even getting the pistons out can be a challenge and im sure some parts might be trickier to remove without the proper tool it might even be Hope make their own dooda tools to aid removal.All of which you dont have.
