Holy S””” what is wrong with people? This is awful….

So, this is where it's at? Too many people. Too little space. Not enough empathy or education. Shame it's being taken out on each other, rather than where it's due...

Common unfortunately.

Around here (sherwood forest/pines) they use fishing wire across the trails, there are a few spots around my local trails i am always vigilant on, especially at speed. Personally i don't think it is always aimed at cyclists, just kids that have watched too many Rambo type films maybe, Obviously someone riding into it at speed is a lot more serious than someone walking and just getting tangled. Some years ago a young lad was killed on his motorbike while up Pines by wire nearly taking his head off.

As someone mentioned on the PB forum, all the publicity could have negative effects, encouraging more to go and lay traps. A similar situation started up Matlock way a few years ago when reports spread of broken/crushed glass scattered around on dog walking trails, after that it started appearing on many more trails.

Apparently after reading more, the guy is parked on a local farm that lets MX riders use his land, his van also has a plank for loading the MX bike, and they have been going into the woods to rip it up illegally, so locals have been laying traps for them.

Yeah crazy how some people react, though i don't know the full story.

There are a lot of places around here where motorbikes ride illegally, Sherwood Pines area has had Motorbikes rip up the trails for as long as i have been riding up there, that's 37+ years, the Police have used every means available to them over the years, including employing other locals to ride on their bikes up there to chase and catch others, all to no avail, the woods around here a vast and a bike can be long gone before police helicopters are in the area, the areas tend to be away from residents though. The above woods could be close to houses and the noise of MX bikes around the woods all the time can cause a lot of discomfort, That and the Police these days being busy with other things and the fact they may have spent years chasing these bikers without success may all add up to a vigilante local going all gung-ho 🧔‍♀️

You are not supposed to take justice in your own hands. This is the 21st century not the middle ages.

I consider myself to be a considerate mountain biker and give warning, space etc to other trail users, even when they don't really have right of way, I regularly get grief from dog walkers on a local bridal way and when I then point out to them that they're walking on the national cycle network and that the footpath is over there, they usually just shrug, or tell me to f off, people are awful sometimes, I just presume that they voted for Brexit and leave it at that.
