I agree with the 0% feedback thing but as for the rest,do you know what this is?

I can appreciate what it is but you have to admit, it's definitely meant for a particular type of buyer. A buyer who is more interested in owning and displaying a piece of MTB history vs. actually riding it. When I read some of the posts by the guy on RB w/ all the Yeti knowledge, I was struck by how little confidence the frame builders had in the bonds of their C26 racing frames and they STILL let their racers go out and hammer on them. I don't think they'd have done the same thing today w/ all the lawyers that love to litigate in the event of an accident.

I thought of this today on a ride.

Let it be know that these frames failed not because of the glue, but because of the expansion differences between the aluminum sleeves and the steel lugs.

So yeah, it wasn't until they left California where its 65-75F every day until they realized the bonds would come undone.

I've visually inspected Tomac's C-26 DH bike, it is not broken.

of course i know what it is, i love the original frame(bike) myslef...but this one looks really bad to me for 5250$...i do not want to offend anyone, i love bikes myself and i have payed around that kind of money for a frame.
if it sells for 5250 in the state it is in, i can only imagine what it could make if it was restored, investing 2-300$ in the restoration...10 000$?!...30 000$?! i think it's getting ridiculous...
i am the nostalgic kind of retrobikelover and they value a lot for me cos i remember exactly the day and what i felt seeing the first horizon fade attitude in 1992 in Vienna...

Thanks for clarification. So as long as the buyer lives in Nor Cal like I do, they shouldn't have any issues I thought you mentioned somewhere that de-lamination of the carbon was something that affected some of the tubesets, no?

Lets see, cost pr broken F.R.O: $200, cost hacksaw: $10. Bonding $100. Ebay fees ?. Sales price: $5000 Profit: $$$$$$

Why do you think it is an outrageous price? You can easily spend ten- twenty million dollars on a painting which is just cotton canvas and oil, or a million pounds for a Bugatti that has spent 50 years at the bottom of an Italian lake and is just a pile of various ferrus oxides.
You should be lookng at far more than the physical item. It isn't about a tatty de-bonding frame, its about so much more. The price is very reasonable when you consider its place in mtb history and the myth that has built around it. Don't think it has finished there either.....it will go higher.
As for being a rider. Even if it were not valuable and prone to falling apart I guess there are plenty of bikes that ride much nicer anyway.

I always remind my friends that everyone has their "thing" that they'll spend money on. For some it's wine, for some it's art, cars for some, many women spend on shoes and it's stocks for others (the last might be a little more savvy financially yet a little boring too ) Everyone has something they'll spend $ on. I like cars and MTB because I can either look at and admire them or actually drive/use them. Can't say that about a Van Gogh or a stock portfolio.
