HOLY GRAIL! (C-26)

True, but the dividends from a good stock portfolio will pay for lots of nice bikes, boring or not.
As for women and shoes- I just don't get it. Why?

I wish I had the funds to indulge in my love of rare Italian cars from the 50's and 60's. That's my thing.

I dont think its the amount of money that is the problem for me, its the fact that it was called the holy grail, but as it as been pointed out to me it was a tongue and cheek saying.

I think if I was a yeti fan I would be prepared to spend a lot more than what the frame is going for, because when you think about it, it is only the price of a good holiday and you forget all about that when you come home after a week. If a Klein Adroit came along after being found in a box at the back of a factory I would pay thousands. I think its whatever floats your boat.

I always remind my friends that everyone has their "thing" that they'll spend money on. For some it's wine, for some it's art, cars for some, many women spend on shoes and it's stocks for others (the last might be a little more savvy financially yet a little boring too ;) ) Everyone has something they'll spend $ on. I like cars and MTB because I can either look at and admire them or actually drive/use them. Can't say that about a Van Gogh or a stock portfolio.

Agree completely. For items like this, its a proper collector piece. As such, price becomes only what someone will pay to have it. If I had lots of cash spare so a few k$ is not really an issue, I would deffo buy this.

I somehow scored the bike's front fork setup.....I think. The seller contacted me immediately after I payed him via paypal. He said, "Hello, I will ship on Monday 9th. I will send you the tracking number as well. The fork, stem and headset came from a YETI steel bike. Thank you for your business." Does the Holy Grail headtube have a 1 1/4" setup? The deal was a Manitou 3 with King
Grip nut headset, AC blue brace for Manitou 2/3/4/EFC and a green A-Tac stem.
All 1 1/4"threaded setup of coarse. Any experts on this? Either way, 100$ is good for me!

If you had as much money as Roman Abramovich and were into retro mtbs then why not buy it. US$5K or even $10K would be a drop in the ocean.

Apparently, he's pretty certain of it too, enough to tell someone the headtube was 1.125"...
