To mark the 25th birthday of the Clockwork Orange have produced a limited edition of the current bike but also given a brief history of the bikes. Check it out here:

Is that first orange/white anyone here's? Fancy the special edition but don't have 2.5k
Interesting to read why they scrapped steel frames. What do you lot think??

Interesting.........I'm not particularly fired by the thought of an alloy 29er though. I guess like new and old mini, they only really have a name in common. Strangled by the e.u...........

Happy birthday though, well done to orange for creating something so enduring and iconic as the clockwork. A true icon of retro biking. I love mine to bits!........

I'd really like the tyres off it :D

I guess it's nice to at least recognise the 25th anniversary of the Clockwork, but I don't like the new one!

How many Clockworks do you think we could get out for a special anniversary ride? I know mine would come out to play

it's nice to see the Clockwork is not forgotten, is that true about the EU regs meaning the frames would be 1/3 heavier than the originals? hence the switch to ally? bloody ridiculous if it is

nice to see a bit of purple on a modern bike too :D

The "Euro-sausage" scandal:
Bernard: “They can’t stop us eating the British sausage, can they?”
Hacker: “No, but they can stop us calling it a sausage. Apparently it’s got to be called the Emulsified High-Fat Offal Tube.”
Bernard: “And you swallowed it?”

I do love my old 'unique' steel Clockwork to bits and I adore all of the classic Oranges I've seen here on RetroBike (that's what got me hooked). I would have loved to have had a classic orange/white fade with a multi-fruited team jersey from the day to match. But I must say, that Clockwork25 looks a hot awesome machine in its own right. I could imagine riding that thing through the City of London on my daily commuter route sending the hipsters scurrying for cover.

As a designer, I like the new Clockwork logo – wish they could have come up with that bitd. Would it be very wrong of me to stick one of those on to an old bike?

It's good to see the iconic Clockwork being celebrated. As well as producing the limited edition, I think Orange should make more of it to mark the event – have an official gathering of the 'clan', release a book cataloging the full history.

I'd be up for ride. But where would that be? Is there a spiritual home for the Clockwork?

Btw, I'm running Schwalbe Smart Sams for winter – these really fly, but the grip is phenomenal – a strange sensation of being glued to the road but still rolling fast.

As always a little economical with the truth. But hey that was an always will be what sells bikes.

I really like it, I love the retro look Anodising. I love the Exclusive branding on Quality Hope product. I love the colour way, and I really love the decals.

I am surprised at the price tag. but its really is nice to see the model celebrated and finally offered with a better spec, and these guys only have to find 25 people to spend £2500. a tidy investment and good business imho.

A little surprised to see the Badge though...?

So after just a quick glance at little more than a few pics,
im assuming "purely" from the badge, that this bike is NOT an aluminium frame produced by Orange in Halifax like there Full suspension models, but made by someone else/purchased over seas and assembled here...? Have I got this wrong...?

For two and a half grand, im thinking I could buy a super lightweight hand built bespoke English Steel frame that does meet EU regulations by any number of Quality frame builders, made to measure with an equally as impressive spec for very similar money.

MMMMmmm. Tough decision.

As the badge says, "Designed in Halifax" ;)

Having seen the film of new 21st Century Fred Dibnah – Guy "flippin 'eck, where's me spanner?" Martin – visiting the home of Orange, surely it's not beyond the wit of Orange to completely manufacture the whole frame and proudly stick on hand-made or whatever, eh?

And I don't quite understand their statement regarding the EU and steel frames.

Well you would hope so....?

But if it were my brand and I had the means, and it was my 25th birthday, I would be stoked to have a badge that said "HAND BUILT in HALIFAX".

it would show how far we had really come, from buying frames in made by someone else, to actually making a celebration model themselves. I would want to shout that from the roof tops.

I really would.

Hopefully that is the case.

Unless they are chasing the margin.
