Hi chipper,Kevin Scriven was a 'Works' rider for Hinds. My bike is one of his,he rode it for about 1200 miles on a tour of Normandy. When I met Kevin,I forgot to ask him about dates. The frame builder was Mr Bird.chipper":jbayjfxi said:Ok, so I threw a bucket of water over it , here's my Hinds road/track
Some really nice lug work , nicely filed as well . Round section fork blades and twin plate fork crown.
Would love to know the history of the frame , age , who build it etc .
An old friend of mine had a Saturday job in one of the cycle shops,he had to draw the shapes on the blank lugs,& file them to shape.I understand this was standard practice, right up to the 1970's.kingbling":22tgrkc3 said:Nice story and equally nice bikes the pair of them. I'm really like the lug work knowing what goes into making them. A job well done gentlemen
Hi chipper said:Thanks for the update , Mr Bird would be Alec Bird I guess , I think my frame is the same era as your frame , the components fitted, are much latter. I decided a while back to take mine off the road, it's too nice to use as a hack , long term plan is to fit some quality period correct track parts , definitely won't be repainting it
love it as it is.
