Highlander bike??? Fillet brazed frame

I have found this ad featuring the Stronglight headset in a french mtb magazine from 1988.

Your bike looks similar to an Otis Guy.
It might share common source of inspiration. But the details seem too different. The cable guide are not the same, the fillet brazed wishbone are also shaped differently. But my comment are based on basic information found on the web, so do not hesitate to challenge this šŸ˜‰

Time to share some info on the seat post.

Here is the one on the bike:

It's a Campagnolo in 26.6mm diameter.

We already found similar seatposts in early 80. Here are 2 pics from the USA Campagnolo catalog of 1982:

It was the same in 1984 and 1985. In 1986, Campagnolo featured a seat post on the Record groupset that is closer to the one from the Super Record groupset from earlier years.

Campagnolo introduced its first mtb (or atb) groupset in 1988: we can see here than a similar seatpost is featured in the catalog. Maybe as an alternative option.

We also see this seat post in the Campagnolo dealer parts catalog of 1988:

The seatpost on my bike is too short. It was a "racing" practice to cut the seat post in order to gain some grams. Unfortunately, I am taller than its first owner (even if the bike size is perfect for me).

So now I have to find one matching this period and with a length of 20cm or above.

For now, I have found this one, but the work on the tube is a bit different:
