I do actually recognise that Hetchins! Afaik it was a resto done in the 90's by Mercian. The chrome plating is new, and it would've been all Record the last time I saw it.

Interesting thank you - I have had a message saying it’s a poor restoration - which I thought was a bit severe

There is a certain kind of vintage bike enthusiast who can't wait to say that - not exclusively the postwar lightweights either.

I'm pretty certain it's same bike (I almost bought it), maybe the luglining isn't perfect but it's a Mercian finish and I think they did the plating also - maybe someone trying to beat down the price?

It's my style, Experto Crede lugs and chrome, I'll probably have a punt at this myself

You can't call it a poor restoration if the guide price is lower than the paintjob.
I spent almost 600 on a frameset in similar condition.

Yeah, definitely the same bike. I remember the LF Campag hubs and the Weinmann brakes.

Looks very decent to me, and last time I saw it the paint was excellent, mind you the price was £1100 then ..
