The shaft turns along with the bolt whenever i try to tighten them

Is the bolt to long - bottoming before going tight ?

Is the bolt or shaft thread damaged - again causing it to lock before actually tightening ?

Is there old thread lock in the shaft thread ?

Run a tap down it and check it is good.

Don't grease the taper or the end of the shaft - some things fit together better dry

I am afraid that i couldnt put it back again if i take them out. WD I remember you just build up your proflex too right? Can you give me the steps to remove the bolt? thanks!

is the shaft rotating as you undo it as well?

What I did was get a cloth and feed it through the spring and wrap it around the shaft to protect it. Then get some thin nosed pliers to grip the shaft through the spring before you then undo the bolt.

I cant remember - to long ago ...

I defo didnt need to grip the damper shaft so I would guess some sideways force on the damper to increase the friction was enough for mine to come apart :?

What I do remeber was that my tapered bush was stuck in the bridge but it tapped out quite easily with no damage to either part :D

try dons method again but use mole grips on the rag abn twist it so the rag tightens on the shaft ,like a tourneque (bandage to stop bleeding type
thing ) you might need someone to help hold things tho

have you tried assembling it without the spring to see if its okay
you may need to clean the thread in the damper rod with a tap

Ok I tried wrapping a cloth around the entire shaft by going through the gaps of the spring as what mikee had suggested. it did help a little but its not enough. the whole strut is still wobbling.

I tried to dissemble it but the bolt keep rotating with the shaft so it just going round and round in circles.

Btw does anyone knows whats the function of part 6?

If you are missing part 6 you have no chance :(

Its a split taperd collet that clamps everything tight and gets tighter the more you tighten the bolt - It fits in a tapered bore on the bridge.
