Help identifyng unknown anti-chain suck device.

Hello all!

I'm looking for some information in regards to this strange custom made anti-chain suck device that was designed to work with the WTB cunningham designed speedmaster rollercam brake. It doesn't react to magnets, so its not steel. However, there was no rust whatsoever on it while the steel and aluminum parts did have oxidization. Please help! I linked the images below.

Not all steel is magnetic, many sorts of stainless are not.

However, the chain guide is quite obviously machined aluminium, simply judging by the thickness of the part.

If that was any type of steel it would weigh an insane amount, probably well over a kilo. Steel is also incredibly hard, so machining it would have been tricky, also.

Different types of aluminium corrode in different ways, but it is *all* oxidised by nature. Forms a protective layer of oxide when exposed to air in a matter of an hour after machining or welding. Anodising is simply a way of making the oxide layer thicker, so the part may have been anodised (doesn't necessarily involve dye adding to the process, not all anodise is coloured).
