Help identifying gt 90s mtb

I picked this up and am planning a resto but need help on identifying it. I'm thinking it's a zaskar but the only identifying decals are triple triangle and gt and made in usa

IDing some of the parts might help - there's what looks like a front DX canti and a U-brake for starters - so we're looking at early '90s (92/93?), and nothing too special but not unreasonable, it's certainly not as low as a Talera or anything. It's not all original (bars, Trek seat), but all the same, it's possible that knowing what model mechs, chainset and such are might hold the answer.

I think Zaskars use XT?

Year is easy as it has UBrakes.
Serial number and read of top tube pics will tell zaskars and probably give bike year.

Does it have a frame number inside the non-driveside dropout?

It's been repainted, so I would ignore the decals.

Also, what are the drop-outs like on the front fork?

From memory the serial is on the dropout on zaskars?

Yep, an eight-digit number, with the first four being MMYY the frame was made.
